Ashlee Simpson and Husband Evan Ross Gave Their Baby Boy a Cool and Unique Name: See What Ziggy Blu Means
Welcome to the fam, little dude! Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross are officially a party of five after welcoming baby No. 3 — their second child together on Thursday, October 29. The happily married duo gave their new addition a special name: Ziggy Blu Ross.
“10-29-2020. Ziggy Blu Ross. Our sweet boy has arrived! I’m over the MOON we are so Blessed!” read the caption on Instagram along with the first photo of the sweet baby boy.

Ashlee, 36, and Evan, 32, opted for a moniker with a cool meaning and it likely has a lot of sentimental value for the power couple. Their son’s name is of German origin and is a diminutive form of the name, Sigmund, according to BabyNames.com. In its full form, Sigmund means Victorious Protector. The name Blu is a nod to the color, and it also colloquially can mean “sad,” according to the site.
The “Pieces of Me” singer was recently joined by her loved ones in September for a beautiful outdoor baby shower to prepare for the arrival of their third child.
“I’m so grateful to be with my family as we get ready for my baby boy!” the songwriter captioned her Instagram slideshow. “Not long now!”
It was a very momentous occasion with her daughter, Jagger, 5, mom, Tina Simpson, sister, Jessica Simpson, and nieces, Maxwell, 8, and 1-year-old Birdie all in attendance. Ashlee and ex-husband Pete Wentz’s 11-year-old son, Bronx, was, of course, present for the soiree as well. The expectant star was all smiles and glowing while cradling her baby bump in her stunning floral dress.
Evan and Ashlee first shared the news of her third pregnancy on April 30. They later revealed the sex of their mini-me by cutting into a cake on Instagram to show the blue coloring on the inside. “SO STOKED 2 MEET MY BABY BOY [heart emoji] as [you] can tell Jagger wanted a sis,” the doting daddy quipped in his caption.
To this day, Ashlee and her ex Pete “have an amazing blended family,” an insider previously told In Touch. The Fall Out Boy rocker, 41, even reached out to “call” his former flame and her husband “to offer his congratulations” after the couple announced her pregnancy, the source revealed about their close bond post-split.
Pete had nothing but great things to say about Ashlee as well during an exclusive interview with In Touch in October 2019. “That’s like the easiest part of my life,” the musician said about their coparenting dynamic. “She’s a great mom.”
