After being together for over 10 years, Miley Cyrus ultimately made the decision to leave her husband, Liam Hemsworth. “Miley was the one who ended things with Liam,” a source told Us Weekly. “They haven’t been together for months.”

The 26-year-old blonde beauty seemingly alluded to her breakup in an Instagram post one day after it was revealed that she was back on the market. “Don’t fight evolution because you will never win,” she captioned a photo of herself on top of a mountain in the Dolomites of Italy. “Like the mountain I am standing on top of, which was once underwater, connected with Africa, change is inevitable. The Dolomites were not created overnight, it was over millions of years that this magnificent beauty was formed.”

Meanwhile, The Hunger Games actor, 29, spoke out about the split for the first time on social media a few days later. “Hi, all,” he wrote on Monday, August 12. “Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated, and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward. This is a private matter, and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and love.”

On Saturday, August 10, a rep for the pop star confirmed that the duo was calling it quits. “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” her rep told People. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

The former flames met on the set of their hit film, The Last Song, in 2009. The couple dated on and off for several years before they officially got back together in 2016. In December 2018, the pair tied the knot in a secret wedding ceremony at their home in Nashville. Ultimately, the Hollywood A-listers couldn’t make their relationship work.
