Liam Hemsworth ‘Hit the Roof’ After Miley Cyrus Was Photographed Kissing Kaitlynn Carter

What made Liam Hemsworth file for divorce from his former wife, Miley Cyrus? Apparently, the handsome hunk couldn’t deal with seeing the pop star move on so quickly with Kaitlynn Carter.

“Liam hit the roof when photos emerged of Kait and Miley hooking up,” a source exclusively tells In Touch. “It was the straw that broke the camel’s back.” 

While the source notes that Brody Jenner “remains friends” with his ex Kaitlynn and Miley, The Hunger Games star “doesn’t want any part of it.”

Liam, 29, officially filed for divorce on Wednesday, August 21, In Touch can confirm. Liam cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. However, it seems like the Australian native was holding out hope that his relationship might end up working out.

Liam decided to “take a break and see if anything could change,” an insider tells Radar Online. “He wanted to leave but was hanging on by a thread, hoping Miley would understand where he was coming from.”

After 10 years together, the Hollywood A-listers ended their romance for good. “Liam wants to put all of this behind him, move on and find a fresh start.” So far, the 26-year-old hasn’t explained why things didn’t work out between her and Liam, but she seemingly alluded in her new song “Slide Away” that “whiskey and pills” played a part.

On August 10, Miley’s rep confirmed that the former flames called it quits. “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” her rep told People. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

The blonde beauty hinted at her split in an Instagram post one day after it was revealed she was back on the market, writing that “change is inevitable.” Liam, for his part, spoke out on social media a few days later. “Hi, all,” he wrote on August 12. “Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated, and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward. This is a private matter, and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and love.”

Meanwhile, the “Malibu” crooner was spotted canoodling and making out with Brody Jenner’s ex Kaitlynn, 30, during their Italian getaway while Liam has been leaning on his older brother Chris Hemsworth.

It seems like even Miley’s mom, Tish Cyrus, is a fan of her new lady love. “Tish has given her seal of approval and really likes Kaitlynn and thinks she’s fun,” an insider told In Touch exclusively. “Tish’s main priority is Miley’s happiness.”
