It’s been more than 20 years since rapper Biggie Smalls, aka Notorious B.I.G was murdered in a drive-by shooting in LA in March of 1997. And though two decades have passed since the iconic rapper was killed, there has still been no arrest made in relation to the murder.

So who shot Biggie Smalls?

Though the murder of Biggie, whose real name is Christopher Wallace, has gone unsolved according to the LAPD, Voletta Wallace, the “Hypnotize” singer’s mother, 64, claimed that she and the police both know who’s responsible for her son’s death.

And in a recent interview following the 20th anniversary of her son’s death, Voletta opened up about the tragedy.

“I have a very good idea who murdered Christopher and I genuinely believe that the LAPD know exactly who did too,” she said to the Daily Mail in March. “They’ve done their investigation, but they just refuse to move forward. I don’t know why they haven’t arrested who was involved. It seems to me that it’s one giant conspiracy, and someone is definitely being protected somewhere down the line.”

Though Voletta admits she never found closure for her 24-year-old son’s murder, there have been multiple conspiracy theories about who is behind the shooting.

Marion “Suge” Knight

Suge Knight, who you might associate with the death of Tupac Shakur as he was driving the car that got shot up, is the Death Row Records Founder. Rumors have circulated that Suge teamed up with corrupt LAPD officers to avenge Pac’s untimely death, as it was alleged that Biggie was involved in his rival’s murder.

The FBI did it

John Potash, the author of The FBI War on Tupac Shakur and Black Leaders alleged that the FBI was behind Biggie and Tupac’s deaths as a way to end the violence associated with rap culture.

He’s still alive

While this might seem hard to believe, there are people who assure that the rapper is still alive and well, just living life out of the spotlight.

Though it’s been over 20 years, we hope that Biggie and his family will one day find answers about his untimely and tragic death.
