Amid Harvey Weinstein and James Toback's sexual assault scandals, another Hollywood heavyweight is being accused of sexual misconduct. Brett Ratner — famous for producing The Revenant and Prison Break — has just filed a defamation suit in Hawaii federal court in response to a woman calling him a "rapist" in a Facebook post.
The post comes just after six women — Olivia Munn, Natasha Henstridge, Jaime Ray Newman, Katharine Towne, Eri Sasaki, and Jorina King — have come forward with allegations against the successful producer and director. The Los Angeles Times broke the news in a lengthy article on Nov. 1 and detailed the women's encounters. Get to know more about Brett below.
Who is Brett Ratner?
Brett Ratner is an American film producer, businessman, and director of motion pictures, music videos, and television. His most famous projects include directing X-Men: The Last Stand and producing Hercules and the Rush Hour series.
Actress Olivia Munn said that while visiting the set of the 2004 Brett-directed After the Sunset, he masturbated in front of her in his trailer. She wrote about the incident in her 2010 collection of essays, though she didn't name him. On a television show a year later, Brett identified himself as the director and claimed that he had "banged" her, something he later said wasn't true. That same year, Olivia ran into Brett at a party and he bragged of ejaculating on magazine covers featuring her image, according to the LA Times.
Is he married?
Brett is not married, though he's had his fair share of girlfriends, er, at least rumored girlfriends. These ladies include megastars, Mariah Carey, Serena Williams, Lindsay Lohan, and Rebecca Gayheart.
