Where Is ‘Breaking Amish’ Star Kate Stoltzfus Now? Updates on the Former TLC Star’s Life Today

Fans first met Kate Stoltzfus (who now goes by Kate Stoltz) in 2012 when Breaking Amish premiered on TLC. While she only appeared in the first two seasons of the reality series, as well as the first three seasons of its spinoff Return to Amish, news that the show is heading to Hulu have fans wondering what Kate’s been up to in the years since.

Where Is ‘Breaking Amish’ Star Kate Stoltzfus Now?

Since Kate’s time on Breaking Amish, she’s made a name for herself in the fashion industry. She was first signed with the modeling agency Major Model Management the same year she made her television debut. It was her modeling career that prompted Kate to realize her dream of becoming a fashion designer. After working in the industry and making connections with other professionals, Kate was able to dip her toes into the world of fashion design.

“I always knew that I wanted to be a model but I never knew how excited and interested I was in design until I moved to NYC. Getting the opportunity to work with reputable designers in Manhattan and working with all the amazing prints and fabrics is so inspiring,” Kate told HuffPost in an interview originally published on November 4, 2015.

She continued, “The designers have opened me up to a whole new world and everything they do is honestly a piece of art. It’s working with such great people that has made me decide to design for the rest of my career.”

In 2015, Kate enrolled in the Fashion Institute of Technology and interned for several fashion design firms. Two years later, and before she even completed her degree, the former reality star launched her own clothing brand.

Kate Stoltzfus Is Also an Artist

Not only did Kate have an eye for fashion, but she excelled in art as well. Along with her clothing, the Pennsylvania native sells her artwork on her website. She seems to mainly focus on abstract pieces, but she’s dabbled in portrait art, too.

Is Kate Stoltzfus Still Close With Her Family From ‘Breaking Amish?’

Even though Kate has previously admitted that she “hated being Amish,” she’s still close with her family. In a July 2024 blog post on her website, Kate wrote that she “never fit into the culture” and “didn’t like the rules.” Despite all of this, she said that she’s refrained from making negative comments about the Amish.

“I still feel the same way I felt when I left. But I don’t feel right talking badly about the religion, because I know it’s a very personal feeling,” Kate continued in the post. “It’s because of who I am and who I want to be. The reason I didn’t want to be Amish is because it simply wasn’t for me. It’s not because being outside the church is a better life, it’s because of my own experiences and personal life journey. Yes, there are LOT of practices and habits that I don’t admire or agree with, but there are just as many that I do agree with. I find that’s true with every church and culture.”
