Nadya “Octomom” Suleman gained notoriety after she gave birth to the world’s first surviving octuplets in 2009. Fans are curious about the famous mom and where she lives now since stepping out of the spotlight to raise her 14 kids.
Where Does Nadya ‘Octomom’ Suleman Live Today?
Nadya lives with 11 of her children in a three-bedroom townhouse in Orange County, California. Her three oldest children have grown up and now live independently.
Nadya continues to receive support from her community, telling People in March 2025 that, “People at church have made a positive difference.” She highlighted one couple in particular who “offered us to live here half the rent just because they’re good Christian people.”
Nadya ‘Octomom’ Suleman Experiences Financial Issues Over the Years
After the news of her controversial pregnancy hit the headlines, over the years, Nadya was often accused of using government funds to pay for the costly IVF treatments.
“The public didn’t know what to believe. They were fed erroneous information,” Nadya told People while sharing the truth about her finances in an interview published in March 2025. “At the time, I was not unemployed. I was on disability.”
She slammed claims that she used “taxpayer money” and said she saved up “well over a $100,000” by working as a psychiatric technician at a state psych hospital.

“I used all of that money. Instead of buying a house I bought in vitros,” she explained. “I also had an inheritance close to $60,000 that paid for it too, which I’m not proud of. It should have gone for my older kids. I also got student loans, but I paid for everything, period.”
Nadya ‘Octomom’ Suleman Slammed Claims Her Pregnancy Was for Fame
Nadya said the “biggest misconception” of her pregnancy was that she was seeking fame. The mother of 14 later sued the hospital where she gave birth, alleging that their violation of HIPAA regulations was “the reason” she ended up in the public eye. California health regulators ultimately fined Bellflower hospital $250,000 over the privacy breach.
“I did whatever I needed to do to make ends meet. And that was shaming myself, sacrificing my integrity. The life I was leading was not only destructive, it was dark. It was the antithesis of who I am as a person,” Nadya explained, noting she left the spotlight in 2013 to pursue her former career.
“I went right back to my old profession as a therapist working 40 hours a week,” she explained. “I used my education. For years I was typecast as the welfare recipient, unemployed mother, all of which is wrong.”
In 2018, she left that position to be the caretaker for her son Aidan — who is autistic — became “overwhelming.”
“I’ve always been his only provider, but I never got paid,” she described. “So in 2018, that’s when I started to get actually paid. It’s decent money, but it’s still nothing compared to what we need to make to be comfortable in life.”
