The inmates are back!
Fans should prepare themselves because Season 5 of Orange Is the New Black looks nothing short of tumultuous. The Netflix original series is set to premiere June 9 on the streaming service. The comedy-drama based on prisoners at Litchfield Penitentiary has already created fan frenzy ahead of the premiere.
"It’s so compressed. It’s just these three days, it’s like racking up the intensity to 11. It’s maximum stakes, constantly," OITNB star Natasha Lyonne explained. "So, I think that for us, it was an intense and just a wild ride. Still, though, we shot it over six months, so I imagine that for viewers it’s going to be even that much more intense."
What time does 'Orange Is the New Black' come on?
Fans know that Season 5 of OITNB is released June 9, but the specific time it comes on is a little trickier. Die-hard fans can stay up to begin their bingeing in the middle of the night because all 13 episodes will be released simultaneously.
What is the 'Orange Is the New Black' Season 5 plot?
Without giving too much away, the upcoming season will take a slightly different format than previous seasons. Danielle Brooks — aka Taystee — revealed that the viewers can expect a lot more drama in Season 5's storyline.
"Season 5 is done over the course of three days," Danielle told The Hollywood Reporter. "You will watch 13 episodes, and find out what happens in the course of three days. So, it will be very detailed, very intense, and you better get ready. Get your popcorn, your tissues, everything."
