Wednesday’s Season 8 premiere of The Real Housewives of New Jersey was certainly a tearjerker. Teresa Giudice, 45, mourned the death of her mother Antonia Gorga — who passed away earlier this year — by reading a heartbreaking letter she wrote to her in the presence of friends.

“Mommy I love you more than life, I miss you so much. I can’t believe you’re not here anymore with me,” Teresa said. “Daddy misses you so much. My daughters miss you, and we think about you every second of the day.” The beautiful beach event was planned by Teresa’s co-star and bestie, Margaret Josephs, 50. Danielle Staub, 55, and Melissa Gorga, 38, were also at the ceremony and wrote their own letters to their deceased loved ones. Together, the women placed them on a bed of white roses and sent them out to sea.

On March 3, Antonia succumbed to pneumonia; she was just 66-years-old. “My mother, she fought really hard. But the pneumonia was too hard for her,” Teresa said through tears. “My mom, she was just the most caring, loving mom ever. And she only cared about my brother, me, and my dad. She was an amazing woman. She was pretty amazing.”

It’s been a tough year for the reality star mama. Last season, viewers watched as the Standing Strong author returned to her family after her 11-month stint in prison for bank and mail fraud. Now, her husband Joe Giudice is in jail serving out his own 41-month sentence for fraud while Teresa manages life as a single mother to four daughters — Gia, 16, Gabriella, 12, Milania 11, and Audriana, 8.

“I have good days and I have bad days. I miss my mom tremendously. It’s hard to have Joe away, but we’ve adapted the best we can,” Teresa said. “Joe’s been gone now a year. … Since Joe’s been away I’ve been juggling a lot. The girls are all in activities, so it’s really busy.”
