‘16 & Pregnant’ Star Valerie Fairman Has Died at Age 23

This is devastating.

Valerie Fairman — best known for being on season 2 of 16 & Pregnant, alongside the stars of Teen Mom 2 — has died. She was 23-years-old. She leaves behind daughter Nevaeh, 7, whose birth was documented on the MTV reality show.

TMZ reports that it’s believed her death was caused by an accidental overdose while she was visiting friends in Pennsylvania. The site reports that she was in the bathroom and when she didn’t respond to her friend repeatedly calling for her, her friend broke down the door and found Val unresponsive. Toxicology tests have been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

Since appearing on MTV in 2010, Valerie’s life has been anything but easy. In February of 2015, she was arrested for prostitution. Earlier this month, she was arrested for resisting arrest and providing false ID to police, who were forced to subdue her when she attempted to run from law enforcement.

Her mother, Janice, recently told TMZ that she has attempted rehab on five separate occasions in the past five years.

Her most recent stint was earlier this year, after she served time behind bars for violating the terms of her probation.

Some of her 16 & Pregnant costars spoke out and shared their condolences with Valerie’s loved ones.

“How incredibly sad. My heart goes out to her daughter and her family,” Chelsea Houska wrote on Twitter.

“So sorry to hear news of Valerie. Sending condolences to her daughter and family. RIP,” Kailyn Lowry wrote.

Jenelle Evans — who was friendly with Valerie — tweeted, “Oh my god. I just spoke to her a couple months ago and told her I’m proud of her and looks like she’s doing good. This really upsets me. Thanks for letting me know. I told her to stay on track. Don’t take life for granted. Hold your children and love them close.”
