Just a few days after their heartbreaking miscarriage played out on Teen Mom OG, Tyler Baltierra is breaking his silence on Catelynn Lowell‘s heartbreaking miscarriage. The 26-year-old MTV star revealed in a series of Twitter posts that he was holding it together for his wife — but is still grieving the loss of their unborn child.

“That baby may have not been fully grown in the womb… but it was fully grown in our hearts. For every parent out there who has lost a baby… it is not your fault and it is more than acceptable and understandable to mourn the loss of that baby and take your time to grieve,” he wrote. When one fan suggested he was brave for not crying until Catelynn was in treatment, he responded, “I was holding it together for Cate, because I knew what she was going through and the support she needed was priority #1! When I got some time I was able to release all the emotions I was feeling. That’s what us men need to do for our women… be strong for them when needed.”

However, when another follower suggested his wife’s struggles were “baggage,” he was quick to correct them. “I don’t look at it like ‘baggage,’ I look at it like my call to arms, my duty, my job as a husband, father, and son,” he added. “When the people I love are in need of my support and strength, there are no questions to be asked, no hesitations to be had, and no reluctancy to providing for my family.”

Earlier this year, Catelynn surprised Tyler and their three-year-old daughter Novalee with pregnancy news on the MTV show. However, she had a miscarriage shortly after — and proceeded to check into rehab for depression and suicidal thoughts. Today, Catelynn is officially out of rehab — and back with her family. “Finally home and it feels so good,” she wrote on Feb. 27. Stay strong, guys!
