What is the deal with people insulting babies? Tyler Baltierra and Catelynn Lowell just welcomed their new daughter in February 2019, but Teen Mom OG fans are already sending the baby hate. And yes, you read that right. They’re writing hateful comments about a literal baby. When you’re a reality star, dealing with Internet trolls pretty much comes with the territory — but the kids involved in the show should be exempt from all the shallow criticism. But unlike Khloé Kardashian, who decided to just ignore the haters when True Thompson was facing racism online, Tyler decided to speak out against it. And he didn’t hold anything back. Check out the gallery below to get all the details on what had Tyler so “appalled.”
Tyler and Catelynn’s daughter is only a month old.
The mom-of-two gave birth on February 21, 2019. After they decided to give Carly up for adoption when they were still just teenagers, the new baby was the couples’ third child together.

They gave her a gorgeous name.
Though they announced in November 2018 that they were planning to name her Tezlee, they ended up changing their minds. “Every time someone would say Tezlee, we would cringe!” the parents confessed to Us Weekly.

So they went with something else.
“It just wasn’t sitting with us like it did at first,” they said — so they went back to the drawing board and found a sweet, old-school style name for their little girl. Instead of Tezlee, they decided on Vaeda Luma.

It has a beautiful hidden meaning.
Tyler opened up about why they picked it when talking to a fan on Instagram. When a fan asked, “Luma? Like sunset? Or did you go with it for another meaning?” he couldn’t help but celebrate. “You’re legit the first person to figure it out!” he wrote with clapping emojis.

Vaeda is the couple’s rainbow baby.
After opening about their miscarriage in 2018, they were excited to have a healthy daughter. “This baby is our rainbow after the storm,” Catelynn told Us Weekly. “I’m super excited.”

But they weren’t expecting to be expecting again so soon.
“It was a huge shock at first,” she confessed to the outlet. “We were not planning it, especially after the miscarriage and how I went downhill with my mental illness.” But it surprised them — and it was nothing but good news.

The couple have been thrilled since they found out.
And as the due date crept closing, they were all about that nesting life. Catelynn shared regular updates with her fans on Twitter about how she was feeling — and how Vaeda seemed to be feeling inside her. “I think this baby is gonna come soon!” she wrote just a few weeks before the birth.

But now they’re facing some not so good news.
After they started sharing pictures of their daughter, some of the comments online were surprisingly cruel. Though some fans cooed over the little cutie like a normal person would, others told Tyler that the baby didn’t look like she was his at all.

The picture started a fire storm.
“Dude, you gotta hit up that genetic testing,” wrote one Instagram user after Tyler posted this picture of Vaeda on March 19. Another said, “This isn’t his baby. This baby is clearly another race.” The comments flooded in suggesting that Vaeda looked black and that Tyler couldn’t possibly be her dad. “Bruh, Cate cheated lol,” said a third. “This baby black.”

That’s when Tyler stepped in.
“Wow. I’m actually just appalled at the ridiculously asinine comments about my newborn,” he wrote in response. “We live in a world that is so divided, judgmental, self-righteous, and opinionated … [and] unfortunately, it’s very evident with these comments.”

He called them all out.
“Respectful maturity is having a strong opinion [and] voicing it when necessary,” he continued. “Disrespectful immaturity is having a strong opinion [and] voicing it when it is not necessary. Your deity knows all of your thoughts … but evil can only hear what comes out of your mouth.”

It’s about love, not hate.
He encouraged his followers to spread positivity instead — and reminded them that what goes around, comes around. “Live with love [and] speak with peace or karma is not going to be your ally, I can guarantee that!”

But Catelynn was able to see the humor in it.
Though of course she supported her husband, she also was able to look at the bright side of the situation and crack a joke at its expense. She left her own reply to the haters in the comments.

She wasn’t gonna sweat the small stuff.
“Sorry, babe, I totally cheated and Vaeda’s not [yours],” she joked with crying-laughing emojis. In case it wasn’t clear that she was being completely sarcastic, she added the hashtags #peoplearecrazy and #comeon.

But they showed fans anyway.
On March 20, just a day later, they posted another picture of Vaeda — and this time it was side-by-side with an old picture of Nova, showing that the two sisters were pretty much identical as infants. “So beautiful! They look so much alike!!” wrote one fan.

Vaeda’s not worried about the hate, though.
She’s got other things to focus on right now — like figuring out how to hold her head up on her own and learning how to smile. But it seems that she’s settling in nicely with the rest of the family at home.

And, of course, Nova’s always got her back.
“I’m obsessed and so is Novalee!” Cate wrote on Instagram on March 20, showing off snaps of her two girls. We’ve known Nova was psyched to be a big sis ever since she was spotted kissing ultrasound pictures of Vaeda. Now that she’s finally got her little sister in her arms, we can’t wait to see more of them together.
