Tristan Thompson’s Own Insecurity Could Be the Reason He Cheated on Khloé Kardashian (EXCLUSIVE)

It's been quite the week for Khloé Kardashian — who gave birth on Thursday to a baby girl amid boyfriend Tristan Thompson's cheating scandal. Fans know the NBA star was spotted in photos and video footage getting ~close~ with other women — and relationship expert Dr. Danielle Forshee exclusively told In Touch why a even woman as beautiful and successful as Khloe could get caught in a situation like this.

"During a time of pregnancy in relationships overall, relationships are susceptible to outside influence due to significant transitions in the relationship," she explained. "For example, attention starts to stray from the relationship itself and become displaced onto other things that have to do with preparing for a baby. There are times that this can cause emotional distress in men and make them feel like they are no longer a priority. This creates a perceived sense of distance between he and his spouse."

Dr. Forshee went on to explain that men actually cheat for a number of reasons — which has a lot to do with their own security. "It is less about how beautiful or independent a woman is, but more about the sense of security a man has in himself with being able to feel confident in having such a woman by his side," she said.

"For some, these characteristics of a woman are very attractive on the surface to men, however, if they are not confident enough, they may begin experiencing self-doubt regarding what they are able to provide for her. He may even question what his function is in the relationship or what his role is in the relationship. This is a catch 22 for women who are of this nature."
