Is MTV being hypocritical? Former Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans certainly seems to think so after she called out the franchise’s “unfair” decision to keep Amber Portwood on Teen Mom OG. In a recent Q&A shared on YouTube on Saturday, March 21, Jenelle called out the network for not firing Amber after they stopped filming the Evans-Eason family.

“How pissed are you that [Teen Mom] kept Amber, but cut you?” one fan asked. “Now, this has been a question that everyone has asked me for a while,” Jenelle, 28, answered. “And, honestly, it bothers me. I mean, I think that it’s very unfair, and I didn’t really do anything wrong. So, I’ll leave it at that.”

MTV announced in May 2019 it had effectively let the mother of three go after news broke that David Eason shot and killed the family’s pet dog, Nugget. “MTV ended its relationship with David Eason over a year ago in February 2018 and has not filmed any new episodes of Teen Mom 2 with him since,” the network said in a statement at the time. “Additionally, we have stopped filming with Jenelle Eason as of April 6, 2019 and have no plans to cover her story in the upcoming season.”

Amber, 29, sparked similar outrage from Teen Mom viewers after she was arrested for a domestic violence incident involving her now-ex Andrew Glennon and son James. At the time, both fans and Andrew lobbied for the show to drop the mom. The father of one even called out the show’s advertisers, writing that they “apparently are in full support of domestic violence in the presence of a minor.”

Ultimately, MTV decided to continue Amber and Andrew’s storylines — and, despite rumors that Jenelle may be making a return to reality TV, they haven’t invited her back. That doesn’t seem to be holding the Teen Mom 2 star back, however. In February 2020, she revealed that she’s got a new project in the works, and she’ll be sharing it with fans soon. “It’s going to be super fun, positive vibes and no drama! Very different!” she promised fans. “I’ll keep you posted with updates within these next few months.”

In the meantime, she’s back together with David, 31. In the same Q&A, the star finally admitted that she and her estranged husband are back on. “Me and him are deciding to work things out right now,” she said in the YouTube video. “We’re taking it slowly.”
