When they first found out they were getting some new castmates, the Teen Mom OG stars had some, well, mixed reactions. For Maci Bookout, there was at least some relief: “Anybody is better than Farrah!” she quipped on Kailyn Lowry‘s podcast Coffee Convos.  For Amber Portwood, there was plenty of worry. “We didn’t know if the network was bringing somebody in [to] cause drama or what,” she told Us Weekly. And for Catelynn Lowell, well, there was at least a little annoyance — specifically when it came to new cast member Cheyenne Floyd.

“At first when I heard, I was like, ‘Wow, you know, she’s not a teen mom, she wasn’t a teen mom,'” Catelynn said. Luckily, it wasn’t long before she came around to the idea. “But then getting to know her a little bit … with her daughter having these medical issues and her and her baby’s father, like, coparenting the way they do. I think that’s good for people to see,” she continued.

Amber addressed her reservations, too, even though it was hard for her to move past her first feelings. “We were kind of like, ‘Oh we’re the OGs,'” she admitted. But they found away to make a little room in the OG cast for Teen Mom stars who were new to the show. “They showed up and they’re honestly so sweet and real,” she said. “That’s another thing I think we had like, a issue with, like, we just really want the realest people on our show who are really going to show their lives.”

Their main issue, though, was with MTV. “I have more s–t, like, against the network for not having respect for us or respect us enough to just give us a call and say, ‘Hey this is what we’re thinking,'” Catelynn explained. “So really that’s where my anger was and still is.”

Maci expressed similar statements in August, saying, “We were never called before it was released. A courtesy call an hour before, call us and say ‘This is who your new cast member is going to be.’ We have been doing this for 10 years.” Luckily, she and the other girls said everything went pretty smoothly. “I mean honestly, it couldn’t have gone better,” she admitted. “It was nice to enjoy working with everyone.”
