‘Teen Mom’ Star Matt Baier Gives Catelynn Lowell Pills, and Amber Portwood Freaks Out

Summer 2014

The couple meets and gets together after Matt failed to become romantically involved with her co-star Farrah Abraham and Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans. They met on Twitter, and eventually, he went to meet her in her native Indiana.

The pair split and got back together in the blink of an eye.

March 2015

Fans saw in a trailer for Teen Mom OG that Matt popped the question, which many believed was strictly for the cameras. A source revealed to Radar at the time that he actually proposed in November.

May 2015

Amber was forced to defend her relationship after Matt made his debut on the MTV reality series. By this point, she had gone back and forth between a private ceremony or big TV wedding.

“Me and [Matt] both have rocky pasts… I’m not an angel and there’s a lot of things we’re not proud of but people change and we’re in love,” she tweeted.

Their controversial relationship was put to the test when it was revealed that Matt had seven kids he didn't tell her about. He defended himself exclusively during an interview with In Touch.

“I have five children [ranging in age from 13 to 25], and all of them have come from long-term relationships,” he explained.

“There are not seven child support cases against me — that is completely not true. I paid child support for all my kids. I have an arrangement where I pay for education and a few other things. [However,] I don’t have to pay for two of my girls because they have been emancipated.”

The couple put their October wedding on hold amid all of this drama.

“Everything got thrown on the back burner when stuff happened,” she told People at the time.

Matt came clean about flirting with Farrah and the adult entertainer encouraged Amber to walk away.

“I asked him about it, and he’s like, ‘Listen, that was a long time ago. I was just telling them they’re beautiful — I wasn’t hitting on them,’ I’m like, ‘You told me when we first met that you didn’t know anything about Teen Mom OG. And you didn’t know really anything about me, or Farrah, or Maci, but you knew about Teen Mom 2. So what the f–k is the truth?’” she said.

Matt also addressed the ordeal and said, "She's a habitual line-stepper — any attention is good attention as far as she's concerned. She's dead to me right now."

September 2016

Matt's son Chris, who has struggled with drug addiction, moved in with him and Amber after splitting from his pregnant girlfriend.

This did not sit well with Amb's baby daddy, Gary Shirley, who was hesitant to send their daughter, Leah, for visits.

“Is there drugs there? What if it’s on a weekend when Leah’s there?” he asked his wife, Kristina Anderson.

February 2017

Amber and Matt fuelled shotgun wedding rumors when they announced they'd be heading to Vegas — though it was later revealed it was to watch their friends get married.

March 2017

Amber's daughter, Leah, got the rumor mill up and running once again when she referred to Matt as her "stepdad."

April 2017

Amber was accused of abusing her fiancé, which they both adamantly denied.

“The rumor that’s circulating is both vicious and completely false. I can’t stand by and allow the media or anyone else to undermine the progress that Amber has made in turning her life around, or the relationship we’ve worked hard to build together," he said in a statement.

“The photo that surfaced is nothing more than the result of some roughhousing amongst my guy friends. I got butt-kicked by a friend and it was well-deserved, I might add. Now someone is trying to use the pic to paint an untrue picture of our life together. Amber would never lay a hand on me, and I can’t wait to marry the love of my life October.”

Amber followed up with, “Five years ago, I made the decision to choose prison over rehab in order to fully turn my life around. Since then, I’ve worked hard to make serious changes for myself, for my daughter, and for all the fans who supported me. I’m saddened by the latest rumors, which are both of untrue and unfounded, but plan to continue to stay focused on my recovery and being the best person I can be for everyone in my life.”

Amber reveals that she is unable to get pregnant because of the medication she takes.

"I just found out that I got re-diagnosed with borderline personality and bipolar disorder, and I've been taking three different medications that now I'm going to have to take for the rest of my life. I can't get pregnant on this medication. I can get pregnant, but it would mess up the fetus," she said on an episode of Teen Mom OG.

Matt was supportive and explained, "She'd have to get off the medication right away, and her mental health is much more important than that right now."

May 2017

Matt was accused of cheating on Amber and admitted to taking a polygraph test. She cryptically hinted that their new October wedding date could be postponed.

“Some things have happened over the last couple days so I don’t know,” she said last week on Susan Pinsky’s (aka Dr. Drew’s wife) podcast.
