Skye McCole Bartusiak’s Cause of Death Revealed (REPORT)

Less than three months after Skye McCole Bartusiak, best known for playing Mel Gibsons’ daughter in The Patriot, was found dead at age 21, a cause may have been revealed for her mysterious death.

According to a new report, the 21-year-old died after overdosing on an accidental mix of painkillers and muscle relaxers, though TMZ has learned huffing may have also played a part in her death.

The Harris County Institute of Forensics Sciences says the primary cause of death was “the combined toxic effects of Hydrocodone (typically Vicodin) and difluoroethane with carisprodol.”

The site explains that difluoroethane is a colorless gas commercial used a refrigerant, though often used recreationally to get high, while carisprodol is a muscle relaxer.

As it was first reported, Skye was found dead at her Texas home on July 19. She had been suffering from seizures that morning, leading her parents to believe at the time that she had a seizure and choked to death.
