Russian Pop Star Zhanna Friske Dies At 40 After Battling Brain Cancer
Russian pop singer Zhanna Friske died on June 15 after a devastating battle with brain cancer. She was 40 years old.
The late singer — who occasionally went by her birth name, Jeanna — is best remembered as a member of Russian girl-group Blestyashchie. She departed the group in 2003 to focus on her career as an actress and a solo artist.
Her passing comes more than a year after she was diagnosed with cancer in January 2014.
At the time, she was heavily pregnant and refused chemotherapy while her son — born in April — was still in utero.
Our thoughts are with her loved ones during this difficult time.
