It sounds like she’s sending a message here. Selena Gomez released a new song on October 24 and it seemingly revealed she “dodged a bullet” when she and ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber broke up. The song, “Look at Her Now,” certainly appears to refer to her on-again, off-again relationship with the singer, who has since moved on and married Hailey Baldwin.

The opening lyrics of the song are as follows: “They fell in love one summer/ A little too wild for each other/ Shiny ’til it wasn’t/ Feels good ’til it doesn’t/ It was her first real lover/ His too ’til he had another/ Oh, God, when she found out/ Trust levels went way down.” That definitely seems to fit the relationship Selena, 27, and Justin, 25, shared.

The song continued, “Of course she was sad/ But now she’s glad she dodged a bullet (Mm)/ Took a few years to soak up the tears/ But look at her now, watch her go.” Don’t worry too much, Selena fans — the song is not a “woe is me” tune. It’s all about how she came back from the situation stronger than ever, and isn’t that the very best her listeners could have hoped for?

In fact, later in the song, the “Love You Like a Love Song” singer added, “She knows she’ll find love (She knows)/ Only if she wants it.” So it’s actually a very hopeful message about the future and moving on despite hurting over the relationship for so long.

On October 18, Selena took to Twitter to announce her first new single, “Lose You to Love Me,” and fans were immediately sure it was about her famous ex. Some of the lyrics included, “I gave my all and they all know it/You turned me down and now it’s showing/In two months, you replaced us/Like it was easy/Made me think I deserved it/In the thick of healing, yeah.”

Hailey, 22, seemingly reacted to that first song on October 23, when she shared that she was listening to “I’ll Kill You” by Summer Walker on her Instagram Story just a few minutes after the tune dropped. However, Hailey later commented in a now-deleted screenshot on Instagram, which was captured by Just Jared, “Please stop with this nonsense. There is no ‘response.’ This is just complete BS.” Do you think there’s any bad blood between Selena, Justin and Hailey?
