Who knew? Apparently, Dimitri Snowden’s marriages to both Ashley Snowden and Vanessa Cobbs, which were put in the spotlight thanks to Seeking Sister Wife, were not his first unions, according to records obtained by Radar Online. In fact, he was married to someone else for several years before he got together with Ashley, 32.

Records from Marion County Circuit Court in Indiana revealed that Dimitri, 38, married a different woman on August 13, 2003. He filed for divorce on July 27, 2011, and the couple had no children. The dissolution of the marriage was granted on November 14, 2011. We’re definitely curious what went wrong there.

TLC (2)

Dimitri and Ashley worked hard to find a sister wife and seemed to have finally met their match on season 2 of the hit TLC series Seeking Sister Wife. After six months of courting, Dimitri popped the question to Vanessa with a beach proposal that Ashley actually helped plan. “She said yes!!!!!!” Dimitri, 38, wrote in his engagement announcement on Instagram. Vanessa also announced their engagement on the social media platform and wrote, “This was a perfect day 🥰✨❤️ I love my song @icanctru and @dimitrisnowden! 🤗❤️.”

Vanessa joined the Snowden family in a wedding ceremony that aired during the season finale. However, not long after the tell-all was filmed, she left Dimitri and Ashley.

“After some deep soul searching, I have decided to part ways with the Snowdens,” Vanessa shared in a statement on Instagram. “I love Ashley, Dimitri and the children so much, and will continue to do so always. However, my love and commitment to them overshadowed my love and commitment to them overshadowed my love and commitment to myself. I was not being truly honest with myself until recently. I was ignoring my inner guidance which was telling me that I do not belong with them in the capacity that they need me to. I now know that just because you love someone (or a family), does not necessarily mean that you are meant to be with them. Sometimes their long-established dynamic is not aligned with your own personal growth and path forward.”

Did Dimitri’s first wife need to leave and do some soul-searching too? Or did Dimitri feel a calling for the plural marriage lifestyle and she wasn’t really into it? We may never know unless he addresses it on social media or TLC opts to bring back the couple for more filming in the future and Dimitri has to answer questions about his secret first marriage.
