In the wake of Seeking Sister Wife star Bernie McGee‘s death, his ex Brandy is speaking out to give fans an update on the situation. On Tuesday, June 18, the reality star spoke to Radar Online and revealed that her ex’s wife, Paige McGee, and their children have been struggling after their father and husband’s tragic loss. Bernie, only 41, passed away on Saturday, June 15, while out for a bike ride. A family friend started raising money for the family with a GoFundMe account, but now Brandy has said that the family needs more than just financial support.

“[The McGees] aren’t doing well,” she told Radar. “It’s definitely a very hard time. … It’s a very sad time.” On Instagram, she shared a photo of the family, asking for “thoughts and prayers” on their behalf. The family friend went into a little more detail, revealing that the family was just starting to get back on their feet after “losing everything to a house fire.” Explaining that “Bernie was the sole provider for the family and Paige teaches their children,” they asked for whatever fans, family and friends could spare to help support the grieving widow and her children.

“[Paige] now has the burden of funeral costs, her house lease is up in a month, cost of living expenses and taking care of two young boys on her own,” the friend continued. “The last thing needed is the stress and worry of how she will take care of financial responsibilities. Please keep this family in your prayers and help financially if you can. No donation is too small and [they all] will help a lot. Thank you for everyone’s help during this difficult time.”

Brandy wasn’t the only costar to speak out. The Snowdens, who’ve also been featured on Seeking Sister Wife, shared their own message on Instagram. Speaking to the late star directly, they wrote, “The Snowdens hope your wife and young sons find peace, and may you rest in power, my friend. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽” To fans, they continued, “Please go love on your loved ones now!”
