Russell Brand will be grilled under oath about allegations he sexually assaulted an extra on the set of his 2011 film Arthur, In Touch can exclusively report.

According to court documents obtained by In Touch, a New York judge said Russell, 49, was to be deposed on February 25, 2025.

Russell’s accuser will sit for her own deposition weeks before Russell on January 21, 2025. The female accuser, who filed suit in November 2023 using the pseudonym Jane Doe, claims Russell exposed himself to her in front of the cast and crew during shooting in 2010.

Jane said Russell “appeared intoxicated, smelled of alcohol and was carrying a bottle of vodka on set.”

In court documents, filed in New York, Jane claimed that Russell followed her into a bathroom and sexually assaulted her while a crew member watched the door.

“As a result of the sexual abuse, I suffered and continue to suffer extreme embarrassment, shame and fear,” Jane said in her lawsuit.

Russell denied the allegations and said he did not remember any interaction with Jane. His lawyer also disputed the claim that Russell was intoxicated on set.

His lawyer wrote, “Famously, the character, Arthur Bach, originally played by Dudley Moore in the 1981 comedy, Arthur, is a drunk.”

“[Russell], an actor and comedian, played the same role in the 2010 remake. While [Russell’s] job was to act drunk and portray a drunk the film, he did not drink a sip of alcohol or consume any drugs at any time during production,” his lawyer added.

His lawyer said, “[Russell] has been sober since December 13, 2002. By the time [Jane] filed her Complaint, in November 2023, [Russell] had not used drugs or alcohol for nearly 21 years. It appears that [Jane] is unable to distinguish acting from reality.” His lawyer argued, “faulty memory of the events she alleged in her complaint — more than 13 years after they supposedly happened — is fatal to her claims.”

Russell was adamant he did not assault or expose himself to Jane. In November, Russell and his legal team asked the court to deny Jane’s request to extend deadlines in the case. They argued that she had not moved the case forward for months and let it sit. His lawyer said, “There has been no shortage of media attention surrounding [Jane’s] suit. A simple search for [Russell’s] name yields more than two-dozen articles about this lawsuit.”

He continued, “Publications ranging from the BBC to Rolling Stone to NPR to The Daily Mail all have reported on [Jane’s] scurrilous allegations against [Russell]. [Jane] should not be rewarded for dragging her feet and failing to move her case forward while the media continues to publish negative and prejudicial articles about [Russell] based on her unproven allegations.”

Russell asked that the court dismiss the entire case due to Jane’s alleged delays. Jane fired back by calling Russell’s opposition to her request for more time “frivolous.”

At a hearing on December 3, the judge presiding over the case granted Jane’s request for additional time. He also set the dates for the Russell and Jane’s depositions.
