The royal family's holiday tradition has been strict in its guidelines for years. The family gathers at Queen Elizabeth II's rustic estate in Norfolk, England, and it's strictly family only — no exceptions.
But, now that Prince Harry has fallen head-over-heels for girlfriend Meghan Markle, he'd like his grandmother to bend the rules a bit. An insider exclusively revealed that's not going to happen.
“Harry wants Meghan to join him and the family at Sandringham for Christmas,” the insider told In Touch. “But the queen won’t allow it. He was left fuming when the queen rejected his request.”
Harry seemingly ignited an all-out family war after pleading with his father, Prince Charles, to allow the brunette beauty to attend the three-day gathering, “But Charles firmly told his son that [Charles’] mother’s decision is nothing personal against Meghan," the insider continued. "And went on to remind Harry that Kate Middleton wasn’t allowed to have Christmas at Sandringham until after she and Prince William were married."
Still, the 32-year-old is determined to spend the holidays with his love by any means necessary, “He’s done with these old-fashioned rules,” added the insider, “He’s threatened to prove his love by flying across the pond to spend the holidays with his girlfriend.”
