Remembering Paul Walker: Taking a Look Back at the Late Star’s Notable Roles Over the Years

Brick Mansions

Paul portrayed an undercover cop who was hell-bent on bringing his father’s killer to justice in the drama Brick Mansions. His character, Damien Collier, had to work with an ex-con in order to fight off crime and save the city of Detroit from the most dangerous felons.

Eight Below

In the adventure flick Eight Below, Paul starred alongside Jason Biggs and Bruce Greenwood. Paul was cast as Jerry Shepard — one of the three guys involved in a scientific expedition. However, things go awry when a devastating accident and severe weather forces them to leave their beloved sled dogs behind.

Flags of Our Fathers

Paul also secured a role as Sergeant Hank Hansen on the Clint Eastwood directed movie Flags of Our Fathers. It tells the story of the six men who raised the flag at the Battle of Iwo Jima during World War II.

Hours

And who can forget Hours? The beloved star showed off his impressive acting chops in the thriller, which shows a father struggling to keep his premature daughter alive in a hospital without power during the detrimental Hurricane Katrina.

Into the Blue

Paul solidified his status as a Hollywood heartthrob while playing Jessica Alba’s love interest, Jared, on Into the Blue. After discovering a downed airplane full of cocaine with their friends in the Bahamas, the squad has to try to escape a group full of drug dealers determined to get back their supply.

Joy Ride

Viewers were on the edge of their seats watching Paul in the heart-pumping film, Joy Ride. He portrayed a college freshman who gets pushed into playing a practical joke on a trucker during a road trip to pick up the girl of his dreams. Lewis (Paul), his brother, and girlfriend have to run for their lives when the trucker seeks revenge.

Meet the Deedles

Even though it wasn’t critically acclaimed, the PG film Meet the Deedles did have his fans cracking up. Paul played one of two surfers who end up as Yellowstone park rangers before embarking upon more wild adventures.

Noel

Paul had no shortage of jealous rages while portraying Mike Riley — the fiancé of
Nina (Penélope Cruz) in the movie Noel about “five New Yorkers coming together on Christmas Eve, seeking a miracle.”

Pawn Shop Chronicles

The movie Pawn Shop Chronicles has a special sentimental value for his loyal fans as it was the last to be released in his lifetime. Paul (who played Raw Dog) sadly passed away four months after its release.

Pleasantville

A perfect existence? Not exactly. Paul appeared in the popular flick Pleasantville about two siblings who end up trapped in a 1950s TV show only to discover not everything is as flawless as it seems.

Running Scared

Paul also nailed his role as Joey Gazelle on Running Scared. His character had to do everything in his power to dispose of the guns that killed a pair of policemen, but unfortunately that’s not an easy task since the incriminating weapon gets stolen.

She’s All That

Of course, we had to reference the late star’s appearance on the hit 90s flick, She’s All That. “I’ll pick the girl, and you got six weeks to turn her into the prom queen,” Paul said while portraying Dean Sampson. 

Takers

Paul also graced the big screen while starring on the crime thriller Takers. “A group of bank robbers find their multi-million dollar plan interrupted by a hard-boiled detective,” the synopsis reads. 

Tammy and the T-Rex

Part man, part dinosaur. Paul portrayed a murdered high school student Michael in the comedy flick Tammy and the T-Rex. So what happens? Well, an evil scientist implants his brain into an Tyrannosaurus and he “wreaks vengeance” on his former foes and reunites with his sweetheart.

The Death and Life of Bobby Z

What can go wrong? Paul’s character Tim Kearney in The Death and Life of Bobby Z is a former Marine in prison who gets a chance at getting out of his sentence. In order to pull it off, he has to impersonate a recently killed drug lord, which is no small feat.

The Fast and the Furious

Paul became an international superstar after securing a role in the Fast and the Furious film. The first flick is about Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) taking Brian (Paul), a newcomer to street racing, “under his wing.”

Fast & Furious 6

The franchise quickly became a global phenomenon, with several of the main stars returning for the following films. Brian and Dom were stuck living as fugitives in the high-grossing movie, Fast & Furious 6.

Furious 7

Sadly, Paul was tragically killed in a car accident half-way through the filming of the seventh movie.

“It was extremely tough. It was a very, very odd — at times uncomfortable situation to be in — because you’re pretending to be somebody that was pretending to be someone else,” Paul’s brother, Cody, said about taking over his role during a new interview with The Sun.

The Lazarus Project

Paul also landed a leading role as Ben Garvey in the movie The Lazarus Effect, about a death-row inmate who wakes up in a psychiatric hospital. However, he’s determined to reunite with his wife and daughter.

The Skulls

Ready for some more nostalgia? The late star even appeared in the PG-13 flick The Skulls while portraying Caleb Mandrake — who gets accepted into a secret society in hopes of it leading to a future at Harvard. Unfortunately, things get complicated when a murder takes place.

Timeline

As viewers may recall, Paul captivated audiences while playing Chris Johnston on Timeline. The film was about “a group of archaeologists become trapped in the past when they go there to retrieve a friend,” according to IMDB.

Varsity Blues

A classic! The beloved actor secured a role as the starting quarterback Lance Harbor on Varsity Blues. When he ends up injured, a back-up quarterback is given an opportunity to lead their team to victory.

Vehicle 19

Last but not least, Paul portrayed a parole breaker who ends up at the wrong place at the wrong time in Vehicle 19. His character had to fight to discover the truth after picking up a rental car that ties him to a crime.

Even though he’s no longer with us, Paul will always be missed.
