Most moms would love this. Olivia Jade Giannulli has been regularly calling her actress mom, Lori Loughlin, and her dad, Mossimo Giannulli, in the midst of the college admissions scandal fallout, Us Weekly reported May 21. “Olivia has been very supportive of her parents,” a source told the outlet. “She now knows that this is very serious and has been calling her mom and dad every day to check in and see what is the latest with the upcoming court dates.”

That definitely seems to be a turnaround from how Olivia, 19, first reacted to the news. “Olivia blames her mom and dad for this scandal and for the downfall of her career,” a different insider told Us Weekly in March. “[She] was initially trying to shrug off the scandal as something that would pass after a week and she could go back to her life.” Obviously, that’s not the case, and the case is still ongoing.

Lori, 54, was indicted on March 12 on charges related to a nationwide college admissions cheating scam. She and her husband were accused of allegedly agreeing “to pay bribes totaling 500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters [20-year-old daughter Isabella and 19-year-old daughter Olivia] designated as recruits to the USC crew team — despite the fact that they did not participate in crew — thereby facilitating their admission to USC.”

On April 15, Olivia’s parent pleaded not guilty to the charges against them. “Ms. Loughlin and her counsel affirm that Ms. Loughlin has received a copy of the Second Superseding Indictment and that Ms. Loughlin pleads not guilty to each of the charges against her,” read filings obtained by In Touch. They could be facing up to 20 years in federal prison, 3 years probation and a $250,000 fine.

We can see why Olivia might be a little freaked out by all of that and checking in a lot as a result. A third source explained to Us in April: “Olivia was angry with her parents at first, but now realizes that they were just trying to do what’s best for her. Olivia loves her mom and dad very much, but is especially close with Lori.” Hopefully, their bond stays strong even in the wake of this scandal and its fallout.
