The end of an era. Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi announced on December 6 that she is leaving the cast of Jersey Shore after 10 years. She first appeared on MTV in 2009 but explained that her life is just too different now.

“I am retiring from Jersey Shore. The main reason is really … I just can’t do it anymore,” the 32-year-old began on her podcast. The reality starlet and her husband, Jionni LaValle, share three children — Lorenzo, 7, Giovanna, 5, and Angelo, 6 months. “Literally, leaving my kids to film it is really hard on me. I try and quit every single day. I just hate being away from the kids. I don’t like partying three days in a row. It’s just not my life anymore. I want to be home with the kids. It’s just really hard for me to leave the kids and film the show.”

Besides Snooki changing as a person, she noted that the dynamic between her and her costars is also different. “Our show, Jersey Shore, is about family and making fun of each other and having a good time and laughing and just knowing that it’s all in good fun,” she continued. “Lately, everything is so serious … It’s not about a team anymore. Fans are against one another when it comes to a cast member. I don’t want that.”

The latest drama is between Nicole, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Deena Cortese and Angelina Pivarnick. The three besties reportedly “made some jokes about Angelina” at her wedding to Chris Larangeira, which took place on November 20 at the Park Château Estate & Gardens in East Brunswick, New Jersey. “The audience at the wedding booed them,” a source dished to Us Weekly about the awkward moment.

“The jokes were all in good fun, but they didn’t land, and some didn’t think they were kind,” the insider further explained about what happened. “Angelina stormed off during the wedding and was upset about it. She was pissed. Now, she’s not talking to them. MTV filmed everything.”

Snooki isn’t the first castmember to jump ship. After Jersey Shore aired its final episode in December 2012, Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola’s went back to living her normal life — and did not return for the Family Vacation spinoff. Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchioVinny GuadagninoRonnie Ortiz-Magro and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino will most likely be A-OK to continue on without Snooki.
