‘My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding’ Is so Fake, Not Even the Weddings Are Real

People who watch a lot of reality TV know that some of the plots and storylines can be a little fake, but My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding takes it to a whole new level. The TLC show, which focuses on two ethnic nomadic communities, Romanis, and Irish Travelers, exposes viewers to over-the-top wedding dresses, teen brides, and trailer park fighting matches. It's the type of hot mess that people just can't look away from.

How big are reality star salaries? Jason Tartick breaks it down with Us Weekly editors.

Although TLC was accused of glorifying negative stereotypes on the series, it wasn't until a 2014 Facebook post by Season 1 participant Priscilla Kelly that fans learned the extent producers went to get their specific narrative, which included hiring actors and even yes, faking weddings. "Basically [producers] told me if I would just get married it didn't matter who it was it didn't have to be legal just so they had something to put on TV," she wrote. "Now isn't that pitiful I'm so ashamed that I even did the show."

Oh, and it gets worse. Below, seven more ways My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding isn't what you think.
