When a mysterious Facebook post appeared on Dee Dee Blancharde’s Facebook declaring “that bitch is dead,” on June 14, 2015, friends began to fear the worst for her ill daughter, Gypsy. Concerns only deepened when another comment appeared, written by “Dee Dee,” stating, “I f–king slashed that fat pig and raped her sweet innocent daughter… Her scream was sooo f–king loud LOL.”

Needless to say, friends were shocked to learn that it was Gypsy who was responsible for her mother’s death — especially since she couldn’t walk, suffered from leukemia as a toddler, and has several other health issues that made her totally dependent on her mother — or so friends and family thought.

The harrowing case will be detailed in an upcoming documentary, called Mommy Dead and Dearest, debuting on HBO on May 15.

Gypsy — who cooperated in the filmmakers in telling her story — is currently behind bars, after being charged with first-degree murder; last year, she was sentenced to 10 years behind bars as part of a plea deal, which sentenced her to the minimum sentence for a second-degree murder charge, being that the prosecutor recognized the abusive and dangerous relationship between Gypsy and her late mother.

Gypsy’s boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, is also behind bars serving a first-degree murder sentence. But in one of her first interviews with the press, Gypsy told Buzzfeed that she didn’t want people to misinterpret her case — as the murder was about escaping abuse, not trying to be with her boyfriend.

Even after all she’s been through, Gypsy won’t admit that she’s angry with her mother — only “frustrated” with the situation she was forced to live with.

“It makes me frustrated that none of the other doctors could see that I was perfectly healthy,” she told Buzzfeed. “That my legs were not skinny, like someone who was [really] paralyzed. That I can’t…I don’t need a feeding tube. Stuff like that.”
