She may not have known what she signed up for. Miranda Lambert addressed her highly publicized divorce from her ex-husband, Blake Shelton, in a new interview, and admitted the industry she is in made it so it couldn’t really be a private affair. “When everyone’s worried about your personal life, it makes you feel like, ‘Well, if you could just spend some of that time talking about my actual art, that would be great!'” Miranda, 36, told Health. “But I guess I asked for it, getting into this business. I’m never gonna get used to the public eye in that way.”

Miranda and Blake, 43, confirmed they filed for divorce in July 2015 after four years of marriage. But all’s well that ends well, because the “Little Red Wagon” singer is now married to Brendan McLoughlin, and Blake is in a relationship with fellow singer Gwen Stefani.

Miranda also spoke of her relationship with her new man and told Health, “I feel like I’ve been through enough in my life to know what I don’t want. So when I know what I do want, I snatch it right up.” She revealed that for her, meeting Brendan was love at first sight. “I guess so. If that’s a thing. I have eight dogs. Had love at first sight with them, too,” she joked. “Must be way easier than I thought.”

It did seem like Miranda’s relationship with the NYPD officer and their surprise wedding was a bit of a whirlwind. She took to Twitter on February 16 — two days after Valentine’s Day —to reveal that the two of them had tied the knot and it was a total shock to her fans. “In honor of Valentine’s Day I wanted to share some news,” she wrote on Instagram. “I met the love of my life. And we got hitched! My heart is full. Thank you Brendan Mcloughlin for loving me for … me. ❤️#theone.”

It’s possible that the more private nature of Miranda’s early relationship with her new spouse is because her divorce from Brendan was so public. Now, the couple spends a lot of time in Tennessee and can be more out of the limelight if they want to be. “[Brendan] loves Tennessee and wouldn’t move back to New York because he’s so happy there,” a source exclusively told In Touch in July. “He loves the Tennessee lifestyle.” We’re sure Miranda likes living a less public life with him there, too.
