It’s been 10 years since Miley Cyrus posted her epic Twitter rant rap on October 9, 2009, outlining her reasons for exiting the social media site. Although the 26-year-old probably hoped we would forget about that cringy vid — we, unfortunately, have not.

“Yeah, the rumors are true, I deleted my Twitter / Can you believe I got, got 2 million / Then I said adios,” a fresh-faced Miley sang while wearing a baseball hat turned sideways in what appears to be a bathroom. “I had to say goodbye / And this little rap is to tell my fans why.”

As Miley was joined by her background dancers whose outfits will give you major 2000s nostalgia, she addressed the rumors that she deleted her Twitter because then-boyfriend, (turned husband, turned ex) Liam Hemsworth told her to. “FYI Liam doesn’t have a Twitter and he wants ME to delete mine with good reason,” Miley tweeted in 2009 before disabling her account and taking to YouTube.

“No it wasn’t because my friend told me to / Y’all know very well what you say I don’t do,” the Hannah Montana star rapped in the video viewed nearly 20 million times. “And the reasons are simple I started tweeting about pimples / I stopped living for moments and started living for people.”

After her dramatic exit, Miley rejoined Twitter two years later — which she now often uses to speak her truth. After she split from Liam, 29, and quickly moved on with Kaitlynn Carter back in August, she took to Twitter to clear the air. “I can accept that the life I’ve chosen means I must live completely open and transparent with my fans who I love, and the public, 100 percent of the time,” she wrote.

“What I cannot accept is being told I’m lying to cover up a crime I haven’t committed. I have nothing to hide.” Adding, “It is not secret that I was into partying in my teens and early 20s. I have not only smoked, but advocated for weed, I’ve experimented with drugs, my biggest song to date is about dancing on molly and snorting lines in the bathroom.” Although Miley has changed quite a bit over the last 10 years, it looks like her stance on realness has stayed consistent.
