Michael Madsen Drops Restraining Order Plea Against Estranged Wife DeAnna After Shocking Accusation

Actor Michael Madsen withdrew his request for a restraining order against his estranged wife, DeAnna Madsen, days after dropping a bombshell in court, In Touch can exclusively report.

According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Michael, 67, told the court he was dismissing his petition for a domestic violence restraining order against DeAnna.

Michael did not dismiss his divorce. The actor filed for both a divorce and restraining order on September 18. In his divorce petition, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, he listed the date of marriage as April 15, 1996, and the date of separation as January 26, 2022.

Michael and DeAnna have been married for 28 years. In August, Michael was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge after being accusing of pushing his wife and locking her out of an L.A. home.

The police spoke to both parties and decided to take Michael into custody. He was released on $20,000 bond.

At the time, the actor’s representative said about the arrest, “It was a disagreement between Michael and his wife, which we hope resolves positively for them both.” The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office declined to bring charges against Michael.

Michael’s rep said about the decision, “We are thrilled that Michael Madsen is able to put this behind him and look forward to our continued collaboration with more great things coming from this veteran and respected actor.”

In court documents, Michael cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for his split from DeAnna. He also asked that DeAnna be cut off from any spousal support.

The actor also slammed his ex and explained his reason for leaving.

In a declaration attached to his petition, Michael said, “The ‘irreconcilable differences’ reason in the petition does not adequately describe the divorce filing. I have separated from [DeAnna] since my son’s death by suicide on 1/25/22. I believe [DeAnna] drove him to this by her neglect, drinking and alcoholism.”

He continued, “[DeAnna] also significantly contributed to my personal issues as well. I am a victim in an abusive, codependent and toxic relationship that culminated in [DeAnna] breaking into my residence and having me wrongfully arrested for [domestic violence]. Once the cell bars close on you, it’s the final curtain on any marriage or relationship and mine was no exception.”

Earlier this year, Michael spoke to the Los Angeles Times about his son’s death.

He said, “I am in shock as my son, whom I just spoke with a few days ago, said he was happy — my last text from him was, ‘I love you dad.’”

“I didn’t see any signs of depression. It’s so tragic and sad. I’m just trying to make sense of everything and understand what happened,” he added.

As In Touch first reported, DeAnna responded to Michael’s petition on October 4.

In her filing, she agreed with Michael that “irreconcilable differences” was the reason for the divorce. DeAnna listed the date of separation as “to be determined,” unlike Michael who said the marriage ended in 2022.

Despite Michael asking for her to be cut off, DeAnna requested that the court award her spousal support.

A judge has yet to rule on the matter.
