YikesCardi B and Nicki Minaj Both Showed Up to the Met Gala in Gowns With Huge Trains!
It’s a fashion face-off! Cardi B and her rapper rival, Nicki Minaj, both showed up to the 2019 Met Gala wearing glamorous gowns with a long train. And needless to say, fans were glad both of the ladies kept their shoes on for the special occasion on Monday, May 6.
This marked the first event that Cardi, 26, and Nicki, 36, have showed up at, albeit separately, since their explosive New York Fashion Week fight eight months ago. Luckily, this time, both chart-topping artists were in great spirits and focused on showing off their stylish ensembles for the evening at the The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
Cardi dropped jaws with her crimson red Thom Browne gown, which was as elaborate as they come. “Made from tulle and silk organza and filled with down, the hand-embroidered dress is also decorated with 30,000 burned and dyed coque feathers,” according to a new report from Vogue. “It took 35 people more than 2,000 hours to create, and it’s finished off with a bugle-bead headpiece that Browne made in collaboration with Stephen Jones.” Talk about dedication!
As for Nicki? She was pretty in pink with her chic dress which was a custom-made design by Prabal Gurung, adorned in silver jewels. The rapper nailed her Barbie chic look for the star-studded event, completing her outfit with a pair of Swarovski Crystal Brother Vellies heels. Nicki opted for a stylish high-ponytail when it came to her hair, which was a perfect playful touch.
The rappers previously got into a heated dispute during New York Fashion Week in September and the showdown between them took place on red carpet at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons party. Nicki and Cardi’s feud stemmed from Cardi’s claim that Nicki tried to sabotage her career. Hopefully, both of the stars are ready to move past the drama for good and tonight was a good start!
