She’s taking care of herself. On Aug. 26, former Spice Girl Mel B revealed that she will be entering a rehab facility in the UK for alcohol and sex addiction. According to The Sun, Mel will be entering a therapy center next month. “The past six months have been incredibly difficult for me,” the 43-year-old told the publication.

“I’ve been working with a writer on my book, Brutally Honest, and it has been unbelievably traumatic reliving an emotionally abusive relationship and confronting so many massive issues in my life,” the mother-of-three continued.

Mel admitted that she has been using alcohol and sex to cope with all of her negative emotions, but that it’s time to finally address her issues head-on. “I am fully aware I have been at a crisis point. No one knows myself better than I do — but I am dealing with it,” Mel explained.

“I have made the decision to go into a proper therapy program in the next few weeks, but it has to be in the UK because I am very, very British and I know that will work best for me,” the America’s Got Talent star said of her recovery plans.

Mel has been having a hard time ever since her tumultuous split from her ex-husband, Stephen Belafonte. The couple filed for divorce back in 2016, citing “irreconcilable differences.” However, in the years since, a history of infidelity and abuse on Stephen’s part has come to light. So much so, that Mel was forced to file a restraining order against the US producer earlier this year.

That said, it’s clear that Mel is ready to let go of her past and in the process, hopefully, inspire those suffering from similar circumstances. “I am still struggling but if I can shine a light on the issue of pain, PTSD, and the things men and women do to mask it, I will do it,” she said.

“I am speaking about this because this is a huge issue for so many people,” Mel concluded. We wish her nothing but the best and hope for a speedy recovery. You’ve got this, girl!
