She’s speaking out. Megyn Kelly has been keeping a low profile since the cancellation of her NBC show in October 2018, but she issued a rare public statement on Wednesday, June 19, to congratulate her friend Guy Benson on his engagement to Adam Wise.

“Guy handled the challenge of coming out publicly with grace and dignity, and I was honored to be any small part of it,” Megyn, 48, told Us Weekly, addressing the time when Guy revealed that he was gay on her former Fox News Channel show, The Kelly File, back in 2015. “What’s extraordinary about Guy goes well beyond his personal life, however — his quick wit, intelligence and willingness to fight for his ideals are what have made him a rising star,” the news personality added.

“I’m thrilled about his upcoming nuptials and wish him and Adam incredible happiness,” Megyn continued. The political pundit, 34, later expressed his gratitude for the well-wishes on Twitter.

“Appreciate the congrats and warmth from everyone — but just to be clear, we got engaged more than a year ago! Wedding is upcoming & Megyn was replying to a tweet coinciding w/ #pride,” he wrote, while retweeting the announcement from May 2018. “Hey guys. I know this place is crazy / amazing / awful sometimes. As a reminder that I’m a real person, here’s what happened today… #SaidYes,” the caption read, showing him and Adam enjoying a romantic boat ride together.

When Guy appeared on Megyn’s show in 2015 and revealed that he was gay, she praised him for being “very brave” in his decision to tell the world. “It’s hard to come on national television and reveal anything about your sexuality,” she said at the time. “And you’re right — it is none of our business and I understand the context in which you offered it. And you are in a safe place here.”

As viewers may recall, Megyn’s time at NBC was short-lived, as her show was cancelled in October 2018 following her controversial comments about blackface. However, it’s been reported that she is planning to make a TV comeback.
