Going behind-the-scenes. Matt Roloff spoke out about his family dynamic in a new interview, revealing they actually get along even better than Little People, Big World fans may speculate. The TLC alum discussed the show’s editing on the “First Class Fatherhood” podcast, admitting there’s “a lot of [time] compression” which can make it appear as though they are “always at each other’s throats and it’s not quite that way.”

During his interview shared on Monday, March 23, the TV personality, 58, said producers film the show over eight months and air the episodes within eight weeks. Even though they capture a lot of “real” moments, there’s some that look more intense because they only have so much time available per episode.

“Let’s say Amy [Roloff] and I are arguing about something. We’ve been getting along for six months and then we have another argument, well they throw those two arguments into one episode,” he shared, explaining how it makes some viewers believe they are constantly at odds. “Just the nature of television really puts out a different impression,” Matt added.

He also addressed how people often share their thoughts on the internet and draw conclusions about his loved ones. At times, the reality star admitted he wanted to tell nay-sayers “if only you knew this,” but it’s not always worth the extra drama to clear the air. Luckily, his family members have grown “thick skin” after living in the spotlight.

“We appreciate all of our fans … we love the people who are interactive with us,” the author gushed. “But, we also realize some people they just get it wrong sometimes.”

While sharing an update, the LPBW alum even revealed what he and his girlfriend, Caryn Chandler, have been up to. “Everybody in our family is safe and healthy so far,” he said. “Caryn and I are down here in our Arizona home … We’re just really staying in, so is the family up in Oregon and [they] all [are] doing well.”

Luckily we’ll get to see even more of the famous family soon!

The new season of Little People, Big World is set to air on March 31 via TLC at 9 p.m. ET.
