Onto the next. After Matt Lauer’s estranged wife, Annette Roque, officially filed for divorce on Tuesday, July 9, the former Today show host feels like he’s ready for the next chapter in his life.

“Matt is happy and ready to move on,” a source exclusively told In Touch. “His divorce is finally moving forward. He desperately tried to have Annette reconsider, but she officially filed. Just like that, after 20 years of marriage, it’s finally coming to an end.”

However, it doesn’t seem like the 61-year-old is too upset with his situation right now. “It’s bittersweet about the divorce, but now Matt has some closure, and he can move on with his life,” the insider added. So, what is the former NBC star up to these days? “He has his kids to keep him busy, and he’s still trying to figure out his next career move.”

The dad of three was fired from the Today show in November 2017, following allegations that he sexually harassed a colleague. Matt released a statement apologizing for his actions after the incident occurred, but the damage was already done. “There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused by words and actions,” he said at the time. “To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry. As I am writing this, I realize the depth of the damage and disappointment I have left behind at home at NBC. Some of what is being said about me is untrue or mischaracterized, but there is enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed or ashamed.”

Since then, the couple — they share three children: Jack, 18, Romy, 15, and Thijs, 12 — couldn’t work out their issues. In January 2018, an insider told Us Weekly that they had “started the divorce process,” so it’s no surprise that these two were headed for splitsville.

Will Matt insert himself into the dating scene? Only time will tell. “The interesting thing will be how Matt moves about his new life as a single man,” the source said. “Everyone will be watching.” You can say that again.
