Last year, Netflix brought Making a Murderer to their audience and took true crime lovers by storm — and fans have been anxiously waiting to see what happens for Steven Avery and his nephew, Brendan Dassey.

It’s been reported that Season 2 is underway and is rumored to be arriving late this summer, though the docu-series has yet to receive an official release date. The men were convicted back in 2007 for Teresa Halbach’s murder and sentenced to life in prison.

“The story is still ongoing, so you will see new episodes coming sometime this year as this story continues to unfold. We don’t know when for sure new episodes will be coming,” Netflix VP of original content, Cindy Holland, told USA Today back in January.

“[Filmmakers] Laura [Ricciardi] and Moira [Demos] are [in Manitowoc, WI] shooting regularly and working on what the right story is to tell in the next set, so we’re deferring to them on when it will be ready. Very few people inside of Netflix actually know the details of what we’re getting because we’re wanting to keep it really under wraps and it is an ongoing case so we’re trying to be sensitive to that.”

The case was recently revisited on the Feb. 17 episode of NBC’s Dateline.

Season 2 of Making a Murderer will focus on the post-conviction process, according to Variety. So far, we know that Brendan was ordered to prison release in August 2016. Steven also enlisted attorney Kathleen Zellner to file an appeal.

“We are extremely grateful for the tremendous response to, and support of, the series. The viewers’ interest and attention has ensured that the story is not over, and we are fully committed to continuing to document events as they unfold,” Laura and Moira said in a statement.

Hopefully, this happens sooner than later!
