It seems like just yesterday we were planning movie night with our girls to watch Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey take it all off in Magic Mike. However, six years later, we are still guilty of watching the guilty pleasure from time to time — and TBH, we're still keeping our fingers cross for another sequel.
Based on Channing's experiences as a stripper in the early '00s, it was no surprise the actor had all his sexy moves down pact. And his back-up dancers, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Alex Pettyfer, Adam Rodriguez, and Kevin Nash were just as impressive. Along with the guys, Cody Horn and Olivia Munn also held their own in the midst of all that testosterone — making it the perfect chick flick in our opinions. You can own Magic Mike on digital today!
It's also no surprise the film inspired its very own Las Vegas show, which was just extended. "We just kind of did something that we thought was important, which was actually make it for women, and not for women to come and worship men," Channing told People magazine of Magic Mike Live. "To actually worship the women that are coming to the show and do something for them instead of just being like, it’s all about the dudes up there."
A Broadway musical in the works, which will be a prequel to the original movie. "It’s like Magic Mike .5, the story of how Mike became Magic Mike, how he got his name, which really is based on Channing’s stories," lyricist Brian Yorkey told The Hollywood Reporter. "There will certainly be hot guys, but we also have a great number of Mike’s girlfriend and her sorority sisters at the top of act two. There’s an awful lot of beefcake, but it also has heart." We'll see you there!
