She’s staying positive! Teen Mom 3 alum Mackenzie McKee revealed the heartbreaking news that her mother Angie Douthit had been diagnosed with brain cancer earlier this month, and now that Angie has started treatment to fight the disease, she’s starting to experience the side effects. But she isn’t letting that stop her from keeping a positive mindset, and Angie took to Facebook to share a powerful message about a lesson that she learned recently.

“Let me tell you what whole brain radiation can do to your hair!!! It completely fused mine together in the back causing one giant eagles nest. It was like the worst Barbie doll hair ever! Then the top front of my head went bald! So we had no choice but to cut out the nest and shave my head,” Angie wrote on Facebook. “It was heavy and I needed some freedom.”

She went on to explain that she asked her sister and her niece to accompany her to a salon so that she could have some moral support while she shaved off all of her hair and she opened up about the emotional moment. “Yes, they all cried. It was hard for them,” she wrote, “but God is still so good.”

“When I first saw my bald head coupled with the over 20 pounds I’ve lost my first thought was, ‘Oh no, I look like a Holocaust victim!’ But then it hit me, those poor people were forcibly made to have their heads shaved and were withheld food and water,” she continued and explained that she realized that there’s no comparison between what the Holocaust survivors went through and what she is going through during her cancer battle. She said that realization made her thankful for her faith in God, and she concluded with a very uplifting message for her followers. “Life is too short, make the best of every day!” Angie wrote.
