A very unexpected friendship has bloomed between Cazzie David and Mac Miller‘s mom, Karen Meyer. The two women attended the Grammy Awards together on February 10 to celebrate the rapper’s posthumous nomination after connecting on social media.
The comedy writer and Pete Davidson‘s ex posted a photo of Karen all dressed up before the awards show with one of her friends. It was announced on December 7 that Mac’s fifth studio album, Swimming, was nominated for Best Rap Album category.
“Cazzie and Mac’s mom have become extremely close and talk almost every day,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly. “Mac’s mom loves her.”
The insider added that the two ladies have not met in person, but “started speaking … and leaned on each other” in May of 2018, a few weeks after Ariana Grande and the SNL crooner went public with their relationship.
Cazzie dated the comedian for two years before he got engaged to the songstress. Before her engagement, the “thank u, next” songstress was in a longterm relationship with Mac. This unexpected connection makes it surprising that Cazzie and Karen would hit it off.
In September, the Sweetener singer opened up about how much the late rapper truly meant in her life. “I adored you from the day I met you when I was nineteen and I always will. I can’t believe you aren’t here anymore,” she wrote on Instagram.
She continued, “I really can’t wrap my head around it. We talked about this. So many times. I’m so mad, I’m so sad I don’t know what to do. You were my dearest friend. for so long. above anything else. I’m so sorry I couldn’t fix or take your pain away. I really wanted to. the kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. I hope you’re OK now. rest.”
It looks like Karen found herself a new friend to support her.
