Instead of just looking through some old photo albums at home, Sophie Perry has another way to remember her dad, Luke Perry. The 18-year-old recently announced she helped open a preschool in Malawi, Africa, that’s named after the late Beverly Hills, 90210 actor, who died nearly two months ago from a massive stroke.

“Thank you to everybody who donated to help with our projects! Our first school is finished and I can’t tell you how proud and excited I am to see it open,” Sophie revealed via Instagram on Monday, April 29. “Thank you to my amazing partner Ruben for everything. Especially for fighting to name the school after my dad.”

Alongside the heartwarming caption was an amazing snap of Sophie and a few other people standing outside the new school in Malawi. For the past couple of months, Sophie and her friends have been living in Africa to help build preschools in different communities. So far they seem to be getting a lot done — even though Sophie found out the devastating news about Luke’s passing when she was in Africa.

“A lot has happened in this past week for me,” she sadly shared to Instagram on March 5 next to a selfie with her dad. “Everything is happening so fast. I made it back from Malawi just in time to be here with my family, And in the past 24 hours I have received an overwhelming amount of love and support.”

“I cannot individually respond to the hundreds of beautiful and heartfelt messages, but I see them, and appreciate you all for sending positivity to my family and I,” Sophie continued. “I’m not really sure what to say or do in this situation, it’s something you aren’t ever given a lesson on how to handle, especially when it’s all happening in the public eye. So [bear] with me and know that I am grateful for all the love.”

It’s so beautiful to see Luke’s memory living on all around the world.
