So bittersweet. Luke Perry and Wendy Madison Bauer were all set to get married this fall before his tragic death. Now, In Touch obtained one of the late star’s “save the date” invites for the ceremony, and it reveals that the couple set a wedding date of August 17 before Luke sadly passed away on March 4.

The invite also reveals that Perry and Bauer, 44, would have gotten married in Los Angeles. Bauer broke her silence about her fiancée’s death on March 9, when she said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight, “I want to express my gratitude to everyone for the outpouring of love and support. The countless, heartwarming stories of Luke’s generosity and kindness have been a great source of solace during this difficult time. The past 11½ years with Luke were the happiest years of my life, and I am grateful to have had that time with him.” She concluded, “I also want to thank his children, family, and friends for their love and support. We have found comfort in one another and in the knowledge that our lives were touched by an extraordinary man. He will be dearly missed.”

Luke Perry Wedding Was Set for August 17

The 90210 and Riverdale actor died at the age of 52 just days after he suffered a “massive” stroke. “He was surrounded by his children, Jack and Sophie, fianceé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, stepfather Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder and other close family and friends,” Perry’s rep, Arnold Robinson, said in a statement. It’s good that Bauer could be by his side in his final moments, even though it was likely extremely difficult for her to go through.

There are no other details on the save the date, other than a note that a formal invitation was forthcoming. So we may never know exactly what sort of celebration Perry and Bauer had planned. It’s incredibly sad that they couldn’t enjoy their wedding together before he passed, but hopefully, Bauer is comforted by the joy they found in each other and by what appeared to be a very happy engagement and relationship.
