It can’t be easy losing a pregnancy when you’re part of a family that’s known for constantly expanding. That’s why Lauren Swanson made it a point to support her sister-in-law Joy-Anna Duggar after the mother of one suffered a tragic miscarriage while expecting baby No. 2. Chatting with Us Weekly, the Duggar wife revealed that Jessa Duggar had done the same for her, and she felt that it was important to pass on the favor.

“I remember just when Jessa was expecting Ivy, and I had lost our first one, Asa,” Lauren, 20, told Us. “I just remember how sweet Jessa was. She’d write special notes and texts, just reminding me how much she loves me and that she was praying for me. That’s kind of one thing I do for Joy, sending her encouragement and sending her scripture. I know what it feels like when someone’s pregnant and you’re not. I know what [she’s] feeling and just knowing to be sensitive [to] different things.”

Back in February, Jessa, 26, revealed that she and Lauren shared a due date while Jessa was pregnant her third and Lauren and Josiah Duggar were expecting baby No. 1. After her sister-in-law’s loss, the mother of three did her best to be sensitive about the fact that the brunette would “see [Jessa] pregnant in the very stages where she would’ve been— right up through the baby’s due date.” Though she was looking forward to meeting her daughter, she was “also feeling an exceptional amount of grief over [her] brother Josiah and sister-in-law Lauren’s loss.” In response, she made sure to reach out, both in public and in private.

Now that Joy, 22, is coping with her own tragic loss as several of her sisters and sisters-in-law are expecting, Lauren is taking a page out of Jessa’s book. The star also had a few words of advice for moms who, like her, are expecting a rainbow baby. “Every day, you have to give that sweet little one to the Lord,” she shared. “There are many times where you can just be fearful and think, ‘Oh, I’m going to lose this one too.’ But … this child belongs to the Lord. He’s the one that has given this life.”
