Scared for the future. Kim Kardashian revealed in a new interview that she is worried that her children will be bullied on social media when they get older.
The 36-year-old Selfish author — who shares daughter North, 4, and son Saint, 18 months, with husband Kanye West — opened up about her fears during a Tuesday, June 20, appearance on The View.
“I’m terrified,” Kim said. “And, you know, I think that social media is one of the most important tools if you’re building a brand and you wanna get your business out there and your brand out there. And just to share your life, I think it’s really fun. But also, I didn’t grow up in a world of social media.”
For the moment, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star admits that her kids “are a little too young” to be interested in getting their own Instagram or Twitter accounts. However, she is more than prepared for when that day finally comes.
“I actually met with a psychologist here in New York at the Child Mind Institute … just to get tips and tricks that we can do at home and [know] what’s really important,” Kim revealed. “And I think it’s about boundaries. … Like, at home, I don’t have my phone. Dinner time, breakfast time, there’s no phones. … Kids should not be falling asleep with their cell phones.”
Though Kim said that she has built a “thick skin” throughout her time in the public eye, the KKW Beauty founder said she is not immune to the hurtful things Internet trolls say about her via social media.
“I don't think this is for everyone. I can see why people get really hurt and really bothered by it," she admitted on The View. "I do break down at times. It's not OK for people to be saying these awful things.”
