Actress Kim Delaney filed for divorce and pleaded for a restraining order against her estranged husband, James Morgan, years before they were both thrown in jail after a dispute, In Touch can exclusively report.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, the NYPD Blue actress filed for divorce from James on March 25, 2023. She listed the date of marriage as October 11, 2022, and the date of separation as March 21, 2023.
Kim, 63, listed “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. She asked that James be cut off from any right to spousal support.
Kim said she had extensive separate property, including her real and personal property, “and funds and securities on deposit at various financial institutions.”
The actress also filed a request for a restraining order.

A temporary order was issued, but the restraining order request was eventually dropped after Kim failed to appear for hearings on the matter.
The divorce is listed as “open,” but there has been no movement in the case since the August 2023 hearing.
Despite the allegations in court, Kim appeared to have reconciled with James after the restraining order was dropped.
In October 2024, she posted a photo of them at dinner captioned, “A beautiful 2nd wedding anniversary!!! 10/11. And now anniversary weekend! Great memories! I love you, hubby-your wife for life.”

Last month, TMZ broke the story that Kim was arrested by LAPD after an incident with her partner, James Morgan. The outlet reported that Kim and James got into a dispute at around 10 a.m.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that a verbal argument turned physical.
Kim and James were cleared by the paramedics who arrived at the scene, according to the report.
The police decided to arrest both parties and transported them to jail. Kim was arrested on a charge of felony assault likely to cause great bodily injury, while James was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence, according to TMZ.
According to jail records, obtained by In Touch, Kim has yet to be released. She has a hearing scheduled for later today.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Kim and James were fighting for days before cops arrived at their home.
Kim reportedly made a domestic violence report against James two days before their arrests.
The outlet said James spoke to police and showed them a video that he claimed showed Kim trying to hit him with her car. Kim and James wed on October 11, 2022. The actress has a history of legal troubles.
Back in 2002, Kim was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
The charge was reduced to a misdemeanor reckless driving charge and she ended up pleading no contest.
In 2022, Kim was sued by a man who accused her of fleeing the scene after crashing into his motorcycle. Kim denied all allegations of wrongdoing in the case.
The case has had no movement in months and appears to have been resolved by the parties.
