He still has a long road ahead. After Kevin Hart sustained a back injury in a car accident on Sunday, September 1, the comedian is set to be released from his Los Angeles area hospital. Upon the actor’s release, he is looking at a long recovery.

Kevin will have a heavy physical therapy regime in the upcoming weeks, sources told TMZ. The outlet also reports that the actor did need back surgery and it was, thankfully, a success. Kevin’s wife, Eniko Hart revealed that her husband is “great” on her way to visit him at the hospital. “He’s going to be just fine. He’s good. Everybody’s good, thank God. That’s it. He’s fine. He’s awake.”

In Touch confirmed on September 1 that the Night School actor was involved in an early-morning car crash in Malibu. The collision report from the State of California Department of California Highway Patrol stated Kevin was in his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda along with two other people — producer Jared Black and personal trainer Rebecca Broxterman — when Jared, who was driving the vehicle, lost control. The car went off the side of the road and rolled over into an embankment.

Luckily, the comedian was able to escape the vehicle safely and find medical attention — Jared was hospitalized with back injuries while Rebecca managed to escape without any serious injuries. The driver was not under the influence of alcohol.

Celebrities sent an outpouring of support on social media to Kevin and his family. “Stop messing with my emotions, brother @kevinhart4real,” Kevin’s friend and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle costar Dwayne Johnson wrote on Instagram on September 2. “We have a lot more laughing to do together. Love you, man. Stay strong.” Bryan Cranston added, “I’ve just heard that @kevinhart4real was injured today in a car accident in Los Angeles. Let’s all send him positive energy and healing thoughts. He’s a good human. Get well soon, brother. B.”
