Stealing obviously isn’t OK, but when Kendra Caldwell‘s mom, Christina, got her denim skirts stolen, the Internet erupted with laughter. The Counting On star took to Instagram on Thursday, May 9, to share the “heartbreaking” news with fans.

“THEFT WARNING NWARKASAS my sweet daughter bought two skirts Wednesday for me for Mother’s Day,” the 39-year-old captioned several photos of the skirts. “They were stolen right out of our vehicle around 7:15 p.m. If you see any up for sale on Letgo, FB market place, etc., it could be stolen. These were very special. This whole thing is heartbreaking to us both. #Klassygirls.”

Unfortunately, the Internet can be a cutthroat place. “Um, I think they did you a favor,” one person wrote, while another rudely added, “Call the po-po asap … it’s an emergency. My horrid sh–ty skirts worth $20 at best are gone!!!” A third chimed in, “Wow, why would Jesus allow this tragedy?”

Kendra, who is married to Joseph Duggar (and expecting baby No. 2!) dresses modestly, like the rest of the famous fam. Back in 2013, matriarch Michelle Duggar said in an interview with TLC that there’s a reason they dress modestly.

“Our interpretation [of modesty is] that from the neck down to the knee should be covered. By keeping those private areas covered, there’s not any ‘defrauding’ going on,” she explained at the time. “My kids are taught the definition of defrauding as stirring up desires that cannot be righteously fulfilled. We don’t believe in defrauding others by the way we dress.”

A pants sighting is so rare for the reality TV stars that fans’ minds were blown when they thought Michelle traded in her denim skirt for a pair of pants. “What is Michelle Duggar wearing pants?!!!” one person asked, while another wrote, “Omg Michelle is in pants!!!” A third, however, wasn’t fooled. “At first, I thought your mom was wearing jeans. I was thinking ‘What?! I’ve never seen her wear jeans.’” Of course, it was just the angle!

Here’s hoping the Caldwells solve the case of the missing denim.
