Princess Kate Middleton’s old roommate, Laura Warshauer, shared an unseen photo of the royal attending a college party as she reminisced on their early memories.

“Sending love to Kate Middleton, the future Queen of England and my university dormmate!” she wrote alongside the snap. “This was us at a Hope Street flat party.”

Kate, now 42, and Laura previously lived together in the dorms at St. Salvador’s Hall at the University of St. Andrews, where the Princess of Wales met her now-husband, Prince William, during their first week as psychology students. In the photo, the two women were seen smiling as they enjoyed a chocolate dessert, surrounded by a lively atmosphere.

“I have the loveliest college memories with Kate,” Laura gushed in the caption. “She is the kindest, most caring, down-to-earth, genuine person, and it’s incredible to see her shining so brightly and inspiring the world with her compassion and courage.”

Laura sent the kind message amid the mom of three’s ongoing cancer treatment. Kate first revealed she had been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer in March following a “planned abdominal surgery” two months earlier. Her absence from the public eye after the procedure led to speculation and conspiracy theories regarding her time away from the media.

“I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I have been recovering from surgery. It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family, but I’ve had a fantastic medical team who have taken great care of me, for which I am so grateful,” Kate explained in her statement. “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

Kate thanked her husband, 42, for his aid and told her supporters that they were doing their best to manage her diagnosis “privately” for the sake of her young family.

“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK,” she continued. “As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.”

Months later, the mom of three announced on September 9 that she had successfully completed her chemotherapy treatment and was on the mend. “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” Kate said in another emotional video. “Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown. The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.”

Prince William recently shared a rare update about his wife after finishing treatment on Monday, November 4, while speaking to British reporters shortly before the Earthshot Prize awards were given out in Cape Town, South Africa.

“She’s doing really well, thanks. And hopefully, she is watching tonight. So cheering me on,” William said. “She’s been amazing this whole year. I know she will be really keen to see tonight be a success.”
