Yeezus Walks? Kanye West Wants to Become an Ordained Minister After Welcoming Son Psalm
Showing his spiritual side. After Kanye West and Kim Kardashian welcomed their fourth child, Psalm West, the rapper now wants to embark on a new endeavor — becoming an ordained minister.
“Kanye is convinced that his calling in life is now gospel and spreading the word of God,” a Keeping Up With the Kardashians insider told Radar Online. “He has always been a man of faith, but he has taken it to a whole new level now.”
Even though the brunette beauty, 38, and the “Gold Digger” crooner, 41, didn’t reveal their child’s name for a week, they had the unique moniker picked out from the beginning. “There was never another name choice,” the source continued. “Their baby was named Psalm before he was even conceived, and they are loving the strong biblical reference.”
Recently, the Chicago transplant holds “Sunday Service” every week in Calabasas, California, where the Grammy winner combines his spirituality and music so people can worship God in an accepting environment.
“There’s no praying, there’s no sermon, no word, just music and just a feeling — and it’s Christian,” Kim explained to Jimmy Kimmel on his show in April. “It’s more of a healing experience. It’s so emotional. A musical experience that is pretty moving. There’s a choir, there’s gospel music.”
Kim’s younger sister, Khloé Kardashian, added, “We have so many friends who maybe feel too judgmental when they go to church or something,” she said during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! “When they come here, they feel free and safe, is what everyone says.”
It’s no surprise that the mom-of-four decided on the name Psalm, since religion played a major role in her life growing up. “I had an amazing Catholic school experience. It’s very strict, very punctual, and I like that — it’s how I lived my life,” she told Vogue. “We don’t share it much, but we’re really religious. We start our day with a group chat with a Bible verse from my mom, and everyone chimes in on the meaning of it.”
She added, “We are very Christian, and our work ethic and our discipline comes from so many years at Catholic school.”

An insider exclusively told In Touch Weekly in April that Kanye “wants to telecast [Sunday Services], so the whole world can watch, and he wants Kim by his side. Kanye wants to spread the word. He says there’s a huge demand for the services, the musicians he assembles and his message of peace and family, which he says is healing and uplifting.”
Well, it sounds like the record producer might get his wish.
