It turns out that being Jennifer Aniston‘s ex isn’t easy in Hollywood, especially when you’re no Brad Pitt. For her most recent ex-husband, Justin Theroux, reports say things aren’t going so well after the couple’s split — and sources suggest that he blames his frosty relationship with Jen for getting the professional cold shoulder. Sources tell UK mag Heat World that he thinks their breakup is responsible for his career slow-down, and that all of the 49-year-old actress’s friends in the business are taking her side out of solidarity. Apparently, that doesn’t leave a lot of industry insiders left to hire him, so now he’s looking to make peace with Jen.

Though they didn’t exactly end on bad terms, there’s no easy way to breakup a marriage. The 47-year-old actor insisted that their split was “amicable” and “boring” in a September interview with The New York Times, calling it, “as painless as it could be,” but acknowledged that “the friendship would not be the same.” It seems that it’s definitely not, and that lack of friendship isn’t doing him any favors.

“Justin’s career is not where he wants it to be right now,” an insider close to the actor tells Heat. “He has been busying himself with voiceover work, but he feels he is being overlooked for other stuff — and he can’t help but feel his frosty relationship with Jen isn’t helping… She isn’t purposefully blackballing him, but the fact is, Jen has a lot of friends in this town and people talk. They all know that what he said in that interview was rubbish and that she’s still not happy with him.”

Her friends and friendly acquaintances just aren’t particularly excited to work with him says the source. “Justin can sense there are some doors being shut because it’s all connected to Jen’s clique, so he’s desperate for peace talks to turn things around.”
